great series!!! loved the rewatch and was just as good as when i watched this when it first came out
I loved the first season when it was on tv. I didn't read the books so I can't weigh in on the comparison, but the first season is a lot of fun - blending several different genres into something somewhat original. BUT. . . I've never been able to finish season 2 or beyond. The recasting of Zach (the son) is one of the most confusing and frustrating choices I've ever seen a production make. He's. . . AWFUL.
Props to Shudder for putting bringing this in. Never expected it to happen. I kinda miss watching this series when this was on and was promoting everywhere. It had potential in rivaling Walking Dead, but just loses itself in-between Seasons 1 and 2 due to bad writing and dumb character decisions. Mr. Quinlan, Fet, Mr. Setrakian, and Eichhorst are forever the best characters throughout the series.
It's a really fun premise, but man did they cheap out on set design, dialogue, and actors. Ignore the obvious overuse of cheap cgi and characters written so cliche that you'll understand everything you need to know about them in 5 seconds. Regardless, they'll give unnecessary back-stories that will leave you yawning. IDK, something to watch if you're really bored.
I started watching it, but right off the first episode it deviates from the actual books. So kinda disappointing. Just like HBO did with True Blood.
