WNUF Halloween Special

WNUF Halloween Special

Directed by Chris LaMartina

In 1987, a TV news team tried to contact spirits in a haunted house. But something went wrong. Three decades later, the recording of this spooky special has finally surfaced and viewers can now see what really went on that fateful night - complete with commercials! Think GRINDHOUSE meets PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and you’ll know what to expect from this hilarious parody of found footage horror. Anyone who watched ‘80s TV is sure to laugh at the scarily accurate fake ads for video rental stores (remember those?), psychic hotlines and Satanic panic books. Watch if you dare...

Nostalgia is the actual value proposition here

I feel like this movie would’ve been better as a short or with the later half being in the POV of the cameraman since, despite the clear time and creativity the crew had in achieving the 80’s vibes as well as creating all of this network’s branding and wrap-around segments, it just caused the film’s actual plot to have barely any time to actually breathe and explore if the supernatural elements were real or not for a bit longer.

It’s barely a movie, but it embodies everything good about television and Halloween in the 80s. If you watch this it’ll become an annual tradition to have it on in the background while you carve your pumpkins.

A bit of a fun time, but definitely "have on in the background during a hangout" stuff. It does nail what it's going for very well, though, with making fun of classic old public-access TV. What story is there is really good - I just wish there was more of it! Kind of hard to pay attention to since it's so heavily filtered to look like low-quality VHS.

Fast foward to the last ten minutes because thats all thats worth watching. it was a 30 minute movie stretched to 80 with loads of comercials that kill any if at all suspense.
