Wendigo

Directed by Larry Fessenden

When George and Kim arrive at their cabin, they soon find that a dark and intimidating presence seems to have taken over the cottage. After a shopkeeper tells Miles about the legend of the Wendigo, a beast from Native Peoples folklore who is half-man, half-deer, and can change itself at will, the child begins to wonder if the creature might have something to do with his family's sudden misfortune.

Not surprised to see this getting such low reviews, as it's marketed as a creature feature when it's really more of a family drama/crime story, with supernatural overtones (which become more pronounced in the final quarter). That said, it's atmospheric as all hell, there are some genuinely creepy moments, and the acting is excellent. If you aren't an arthouse aficionado, you should probably pass this one by.

Not a lot of scare but decent acting and fun to think about after it's all over.
