Not something I’d watch twice kinda lame
The only reviews you should trust are the ones with 1 star. And, if those folks are anything like me, the 1 is because there’s no option for 0. Reliable horror scribe Lansdale’s name is a trap (he didn’t even write this… & it shows). The camerawork & direction are so shoddy, scenes often actually lose all cohesion. The great character actors wasted on this give their best, but no one else can act. And the little brother? The writers managed the feat of a useless heel dumber & more recklessly responsible for the rest of the cast’s deaths than the daughter in Army of the Dead. Which says something. I made it to the end by a sheer act of will/ masochism. Run, do not walk, away from this trash.
I couldn’t finish it, maybe I’ll have to give it another chance later down the road. I just couldn’t get past the costume design. I understand the concept behind the costume design, why they were made to look the way they did. It just didn’t do it for me.
Not terrible, but not the best Western Horror I've ever seen. Went in expecting a cult-religious horror, came out having experienced an all-out shoot-out with lots of prosthetics and gore. Not upset about that, but the setup didn't really match the end result. Loved that Jacob was (implied) queer, but I would have loved to see that more explicitly stated and/or shown. Overall, it was a fun watch with an interesting premise, even if it didn't play out how I thought. I would watch it again!
It was interesting
