A weird, and wild ride definitely worth a watch.
Really good and actually scary in some places
Very sad ending, I truly felt sorry for the family. This movie had me invested from start to finish. Who cares about how slow the plot is or how many jump scares? That was a good movie. Period. This is one of the rare movies I have to say was perfect. Did I like what happened? NO! I wish I could have jumped into the story and stopped so many things, but that's what kept me glued to the screen. All I can say is "Wow". I have no words. I will be spending the next 24 hours researching the lore behind this movie. ALSO, as someone who's grown up with Catholicism watching people from an entirely different part of the world who've grown up with a completely different religion feel the same way I've felt about God is almost soothing. It's a worldwide religious experience to struggle with belief. Not to start an entire religious debate or anything, I just found this part to sit well with my soul.
Pretty damn good as far as possession movies go (docked a skull for the Blair Witch type ending though? I dunno, didn't feel quite right). Also wanted to say that LMK's comment "for Ba Yan's sake" cracked me up
Before I get into this review I just want to first say, why has there been no physical Blu Ray release of this movie? Same with Incantation. What gives? The Medium is one of my favorite possession movies as well as favorite horror films. Lost count how many times I've watched it. The lore is incredible to me. All of the actors felt like they were born to play their characters. The score I think isn't brought up enough when people talk about the film, I really think the music is just top notch. Some are very unfair to the movie due to the fact it's in part a found footage film. Even the parts of The Medium that didn't scare me, I just found very cool. There's aspects of the story that leave it up to your imagination which is something I think gets overlooked only because of what the film does show you. If you're into the Demonic, watch it. Looking to be scared? You probably will be. The atmosphere is 10/10, music 10/10, acting 10/10 and scare factor 9/10. The ending is also fantastic but you might not understand it the first time watching or maybe even the second. There are videos that explain the ending online and it's so dark, fits the entire theme/feel of the movie. If The Medium isn't for you then it's not, tho even if it's not, you won't be able to deny the things The Medium does so well and it's a great possession/Demonic horror film. In the future I can see The Medium becoming another Cult Classic.
