The Dark and the Wicked
Directed by Bryan Bertino
On a secluded farm, a man is bedridden and fighting through his final breaths while his wife slowly succumbs to overwhelming grief. Siblings Louise and Michael return home to help, but it doesn’t take long for them to see that something’s wrong with mom—something more than her heavy sorrow. Gradually, they begin to suffer a darkness similar to their mother’s, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that an evil entity is taking over their family. A SHUDDER EXCLUSIVE.
An evil entity takes over a family in this horrifying new tale from the director of The Strangers.
Cast: Marin Ireland, Michael Abbott Jr., Julie Oliver-Touchstone

So-so. A bit too basic and reliant on jump scares.
Literally the only reason I'm giving this movie five stars is because I felt that the ending was weak and left a lot of open ends. Still worth the watch
It's the dark and almost oppressive atmosphere that makes this movie for me, ended up being one of my favorite ghost/demon movies.
I loved the setting and wish it had leaned into that more and gone in a folk horror direction. The score is gorgeous and would have suited that well. As it is, I found it to be it a conventional religious horror movie. It didn’t really speak to me.
