This was an incredibly harrowing movie. The two child actors were flawless and conveyed such convincing emotional maturity that at times I forgot they were just acting. The plot brings nothing new to the horror genre, but the quality of the acting and the clever camera angles obscuring the kidnapper until halfway through makes this movie special. The only fault I can find with it is the unrealistic deaths; not the attacks themselves, but the instantaneous death from injuries like an abdominal stab wound which would take at least a couple of minutes to bleed out from before causing death. Aside from this naive misrepresentation, everything else was perfect.
An interesting premise that ultimately fails to deliver due to poor pacing, sexism, and a lack of any other ideas.
Really enjoyable, edge of your seat, somewhat triggering and very creepy. There are some dumb choice moments but if you push the suspension of disbelief a bit … it’s forgivable. The kids are GREAT… so is the villain… it’s a good way to spend an hour or so.
