Santa Sangre
Directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky
An armless woman drives her son to kill in Alejandro Jodorowsky's surreal shocker. As a boy, Fenix saw his father cut off his mother's arms, and the resulting trauma sent him to a mental hospital. When mom visits him years later, he escapes, but soon must satisfy her thirst for santa sangre ("holy blood"). Nearly 20 years after he first freaked out filmgoers with the trippy EL TOPO and THE HOLY MOUNTAIN, Jodorowsky returned with this visually stunning film filled with references to classic horror films like THE UNKNOWN, PSYCHO, and EYES WITHOUT A FACE.

Wow ! This was really a weird one ! Loved it ! Even it’s 1989; it’s a timeless one.
What a Treasure ! What a movie !!! Will be in my head for a long time… Bravissimo !,
It’s not like I don’t notice all the high ratings. “Stunning” “beautiful” blah blah blah, great. Maybe I’ll try again another time but I couldn’t even get through the first hour. Not for me.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE to no end. i get its a little more on the artsy side for most gore hounds but the themes explored are just brutally honest. its rare that a dark flick can really wrap you into its world and make tou feel as if youre in it🌍 but this one really does for me.
Jodorowsky is the goat!
