Combine the film styles of John Waters, David Lynch, and Douglas Sirk and this is the result. I happen to LOVE all three of those so I really enjoyed this. Shudder tends to put things on here that are not overtly "horror", but will be at least "horror" adjacent to the point where those movies tend to have 1 skull reviews complaining, "THIS AINT HORROR!!! WHY IS THIS ON SHUDDER!!!". This is the first time I've watched a movie on here that I thought, besides the abstractness of plot or the violent (gay) biker gang, there really isn't a horrorific element in this at all. That being said, I didn't care because if this wasn't streaming on Shudder, I'm not quite sure I would've seen it!!! Interesting that the opening credit is Music Box Films and I live outside of Chicago and frequent the Music Box and must've missed all promotions for this film. One last thing, this movie was also VERY QUEER!!! LOVED it!

Listen, Shudder is not *just* horror, despite what some unhappy reviewers would have you believe. This is a place for underground, strange, and subversive. In that regard, this film fits Shudder perfectly. It's borderline-surreal, stylized, thought-provoking, and campy. If this isn't your thing, you'll know within the first 20 minutes -- but I'd suggest that everyone gives it at least that much of their time. You might be surprised.

This was a really great artistic movie exploring gender and sexuality in cool and artistic way, with interesting characters and a fun aesthetic. Loved it! Glad I watched it. 5 skulls for the movie itself. That being said -- What is it doing on Shudder? Do we just call anything with a little blood "horror" these days?
