Starts as a gripping psychological drama about a mother trying to help her deeply traumatized adopted daughter. But in the final half hour, it takes a sharp supernatural turn that feels out of place and undermines the grounded tension it had built. What began as a compelling study of trauma ends up feeling hokey and forced. A strong start, let down by an ill-fitting ending.
Wish I would have read the reviews. Its not a horror movie, its a drama. No real horror elements, no science fiction ghost or anything. Which might have been ok if it didn't have 45 mins of a character acting in a completely nonsensical, non relatable, utterly maddening manner because the plot demanded they do. It was very frustrating to try to sit through, and I did because I wanted the pay off. But the pay off was a cop out. Uhhhgggggg. I'm not going to say to not watch it, maybe its your type of movie, but I did warn you.
Not horror in the true sense of the word, however it is disturbing none the less. They could have chopped 30 minutes off the runtime without missing anything. It was an ok movie.
Find culture. There are horror films across the globe. Not just ‘merica.
Fair warning, this is a horror drama, sort of comparable to Problem Child or Bad Seed, but less campy melodrama. The ending was kind of disappointing but overall it's a pretty decent movie, all the actors are good and the child actors feel very believable, I was engaged wondering where the story was going.
