The other reviews being so harsh on this film are wrong. While it definitely has a level of cheesiness, I think the creatures, world and effects were really great. For the most part, the acting suits everyone. I really liked a number of the characters and overall the civilization of the Nightbreed. If you expect a movie like this to match a modern kind of mentality, you should rethink your standards. For what it is, the style suits it.
I saw this when it debuted & Clive Barker was the darling of the horror world. I remember thinking it was a lousy movie & that Craig Sheffer was a terrible actor. Bullseye on both counts as I revisit this. It would get 1 star if David Cronenberg weren't so good. It's worth pointing out that Barker's direction is terrible, as well. Not worth watching.
Okay, but doesn't live up to how I remember it from back in the day. Just doesn't work now. Hellraiser series is so much better. See what you think. On to the next.
