Directed by Masaaki Yuasa
Nishi, too wimpy to try to save his childhood sweetheart from gangsters, is shot in the butt by a soccer-playing psychopath, projecting Nishi into the afterlife. In this limbo, God – shown as a series of rapidly changing characters – tells him to walk toward the light. But Nishi runs like hell in the other direction and returns to Earth a changed man, driven to live each moment to the fullest.
Determined to live life to the fullest after literally cheating death, loser Nishi drags his childhood sweetheart and her sister into a surreally dire situation that leads to a spiritual journey for the three of them.

It isn't horror but it is amazing. So glad I got to watch this.
I don't even know where I am. Help me get out. I think I remember this? I'm not the real me. Anyway, great movie!
dont know what the fuck this is doing on shudder but god am I glad its here
Saw before it was on Shudder. Not a horror movie I'd say, but phenomenal nonetheless. This movie inspired me to look into all the other works of the director and I fell in love more and more. 20/10 masterpiece
An entirely beautiful and luscious piece of cinema, but be forewarned: it is not 'horror'. Many of the scenes are framed in ways common to horror or film noir, but this film is wonderfully optimistic in its outlook. I have great respect and admiration for the curators at Shudder (or the AI algorithm, should that be the case) who chose to add this film to the list.
