This film is sheer madness. And I mean that in the best way possible. It is perhaps the apex of Nick Cage madness. There are reasons so many images in this film have become memes. All the other actors in this film are fine, but Cage dominates throughout the film. Well, maybe the tiger competes for Cage's attention. Love that Red (Cage) has a Detroit Tigers along with a shirt with a picture of a tiger. And that he then sees an actual tiger. Well, maybe he sees a tiger. So hard to know what and how much of the second half of the film "actually" happens and what just takes place in Red's head. Also love that the character is named "Red" and then is covered in blood making him red for much of the film.

One of my favorite films. I saw it when it came out and in 2026 I still find myself thinking about it at work. It’s sad and weird, But also fantastical. The lighting is to die for. The concepts are over the top and cool. It gives a very engaging and enjoyable twist on revenge cinema. The acting is phenomenal. Mandy is the perfume that emanates this film. While Red is a deeply hurt man and a battle axe pushing us through the story.
