I like what the horror genre tells us about mental illness. It doesn't matter whether it is a demon from hell or a demon of the mind. Either way the individual suffers and the family suffers.

What could have been a great film was marred by infuriating plot holes, inconsistent characterization and motivations, an overwrought soundtrack, and an anticlimactic ending. Despite the broader issues I have with this film, I thought the acting was excellent.

This is badly written, badly acted, and laughably unscary. I wanted to like this movie, but it's just not worth it.

This movie was pretty good, however it was a remake of an old Twilight Zone episode called "The Howling Man", retooled for modern sensibilities. I only gave it 3 stars because I believe the Twilight Zone episode was better. Fun fact: in the original they couldn't use crosses to keep the Devil in because they didn't want to offend the studio heads, so they used shepherd staffs instead.
