Humanoids from the Deep
Directed by Barbara Peeters, Jimmy T. Murakami
In this gory low-budget shocker from the Roger Corman stable, genetically treated salmon escape the plant and are eaten by coelacanths, who mutate into humanoid monsters with giant craniums and sharp claws. The creatures begin attacking teen couples, killing the boys and mating with the girls (in some pretty graphic monster-rape scenes), creating total pandemonium at the annual salmon festival.
Half man, half fish terrorize a small fishing village in this Roger Corman shocker.
Cast: Doug McClure, Ann Turkel, Vic Morrow, Cindy Weintraub

The designs of the monsters were pretty cool. There’s a lot of nudity, which apparently the woman director didn’t want and the guy director did. There’s a bunch of controversy about that. The story is simple: a bunch of ocean monsters gnaw away on anyone and everyone. No one is winning any awards here for acting. It’s a cheesy movie in a way, but the last 25 mins are pretty exciting. I think one of the most laughable scenes is when a man and a woman are about to have sex in a tent on a beach, and the guy is talking with a dummy since he’s a ventriloquist, which looks like Slappy from Goosebumps, and the monsters tear them apart, but it’s goofy. I really am not a big creature feature kind of guy, but this had some interesting moments. I didn’t mind it but, it’s not a great movie
