Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror
Directed by Xavier Burgin
Delving into a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and finally embraced them, Horror Noire traces the untold history of Black Americans in Hollywood through their connection to the horror genre. Adapting Robin Means Coleman’s seminal book, HORROR NOIRE will present the living and the dead, using new and archival interviews from scholars and creators; the voices who survived the genre’s past trends, to those shaping its future. A SHUDDER ORIGINAL.

“victimhood” “i’m glad i have a different opinion on these movies” “9/10 black horror movies suck” is just another way of saying you’re most likely racist and not a true horror fan. As if horror doesn’t stem from trauma and social issues.
Aw man, I LOVE this doc. Such a breadth of stuff that it covers over decades and decades of media, so many insightful and smart commentators. If it had been TWICE as long and maintained such tight quality control, I would have happily watched that.
Such a great movie, loved it!
Well. . . . I certainly have a different view of many of the movies presented in the doc. And im glad I do.
Very interesting and educational!
