So many of the awards were predictable on who they were going to choose. For evil dead rise to win that many especially when fangoria hyped it up so much when it came out. Skinamarik was boring and lost out to so many other good movies. Overall it was a meh show this year.

As someone who works in film and tv, I volunteer to help with next years awards. I’m not sure whom was in charge but we can do better next time. Loved the main hosts but aside from that it felt rushed and also felt like it was filmed during covid, which we know it wasn’t. I understand scheduling some individuals from a wide range of areas and such is challenging, yet production value can be raised. I assume this whole thing was very “non union”, but that aside, we can make this more entertaining and interesting for the hoards of shudder and horror fans on the next go round.

This was my first time watching and voting in these, and I was extremely happy with the results. They match perfectly the spirit of what a show like this should be, and at less than 90 minutes. Hosted by fan favorite, David Dastmalchian and Angel Melanson, they do a great job ushering through the various categories and presenters, who are also all pretty great. My thoughts (award spoilers): - Evil Dead Rise completely killed it. Many awards, all well-deserved. I actually did an entire episode on this movie. Very well deserved award for Alyssa Sutherland for Best Supporting Performance. - It continues to surprise me how The First Omen hasn't been more talked about. Everyone I know who has watched it loved it. It received a handful of nominations but not wins. I would've especially loved one for best director. - I still need to watch like I saw the TV Glow and Infinity Pool. Overall, I'd say, if you're a fan of horror, this is well worth the watch to get you acquainted with a few movies you haven't seen and a few horror personalities you may not know yet.
