Darklands

Directed by Julian Richards

A journalist investigates an evil cult who may have murdered a female colleague. After Rachel dies mysteriously while investigating her brother’s death, Frazier Truick (Craig Fairbrass) decides it’s time to get to the bottom of what the cult is all about. But he’s not prepared for pagan rituals, Satan worship, and human sacrifice. Racing against time, Frazier must solve the crime before he winds up its next victim. Combining elements of classics like THE WICKER MAN with social realism, director Julian Richards paved the way for the UK horror revival of the 2000’s.

This was a very intriguing film with great pacing and awesome writing. The practical effects, music, cinematography, and acting were all great. I really enjoyed the helpless feeling that permeated through a lot of the movie; it feels like more of a thriller than a horror. I'd definitely give this a watch.

Wait what?? Who is comparing this to a 90s wicker man or rosemary’s baby?? Whoever is doing this is lying, and I promise you this doesn’t even scratch the surface of what those films offer

Another film posted by shudder in the last few weeks that starts with brutal and horrific animal cruelty and torture - for absolutely no reason and without warning. Rubbish.

Absolutely awful, just awful. Do not waste your time- and WARNING animal sacrifice & murder right off the bat. Horrific that this was ever made.

Not exactly bad - the story is reasonable if pretty predictable, the performances are mostly good enough. But so much of it felt bland - pretty bare in terms of interesting visuals or tension.
