I get what it was trying to do. But yea I watched deadstream first so maybe that’s on me. It won’t change your life. Christ knows I’ll never watch it again.

This film encapsulates the madness of our chronically online society while creating an entertaining and hilarious horror movie with fun concepts, innovative ideas, and an enjoyable commentary. I laughed quite a few times at the comments from the live stream. This movie also has darker undertones as a critique of our desensitized society, constantly craving views and doom-scrolling mindlessly through TikTok and other social platforms. Like other horror films in this sub-genre, it takes our current era of technology and utilizes the tools to create an entertaining movie. The convenience at our fingertips, the desire for connection, and a desire to gain notoriety via virality are mixed into a fun, intriguing story of whom we can relate to all the characters, including the characters created by the viewership of Chad and the rest of his influencer gang. With our ever-decreasing attention span, this film proves that the horror genre and our need to be spooked is an essential outlet to build community. Horror Fans will enjoy this creative modern take on the found footage sub-genre done in the tradition of R.E.C., Blair Witch Project, Gonjiam: Asylum, and more directly, Deadstream, and a personal favorite, HOST, to name a few. Kudos to the entire team behind this. Lots of fun!

peel away the vinear and its actually a pretty poignant story about how cynical and disconnected tech addicts have become. the whole satanic cult story, from my view, is secondary to the real story.
