It was meh, like VampirePlacebo's review, I watched Oddity first which is exceptional, especially in comparison to Caveat. Very different styles of film with completely different paces. Caveat didn't scare me or leave me feeling creeped out, slow moving and confusing. Seemed as if there was some sort of time loop occurring??? but not a single plot is properly explored. Whereas Oddity had me scared for a week, especially alone at home.
Ya know what, it was silly, it was fun, there were no loud jump scares, it’s a pretty good movie if you ignore the incomprehensible motives from the characters
the problem with these modern indie horror movies, especially the direct-to-streaming ones, is they are basically sepia toned and visually unappealing. It’s like everyone is channeling Robert Eggers’ The VVitch. You also get the sense that there wasn’t much of a script. Does more dialogue make it less artistic? This movie is a good concept hindered by a lazy execution. I’ll admit I stopped watching halfway through. I suppose I’m a lazy viewer as well.
This was very solid. Not upset with it at all. Definitely worth a watch. Probably won’t watch it again though.
Slow burner but satisfying ending (keep going if you're struggling to get through it). Except, I am pretty sure he could have just kicked his way out, the plasterboard looked flimsy as flip!
