Silly and bloody and fun. But dont watch if you're expecting or wanting high art. Its potato chips.
I watched this movie for a few reasons: 1. GAY 2. Female Lead I was pleasantly surprised by: 1. GAY!!! 2. Female Lead 3. Chubby black man who sews and is comedic relief I do wish the ending was a tad different/happier, but without any spoilers - at least the GAY lives on
Yeah this is, yeah, this, nah.
I was really rooting for this movie because I liked the premise and I especially liked Sari Arambulo as Abbie, but then I like all the main players who gave fine performances. Arambulo also shares great chemistry with Molly Brown's character, Sam and their romance was sweet and believable. But--and this is the second time today I'm saying this--the creators just couldn't commit to going hard. This is a family business of slashers, ffs--make the humor deep-dark black and you'd have a winner. I also have to take points off for a criminal underuse of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (just kidding. . . sorta). I guess what bothers me the most is if the creators had committed to going balls-in the abyss, this could've been a great horror-comedy.
This is one of those movies that is better if you don't think too hard about the logistics of everything. Just relax and ty to enjoy the spectacle
