Directed by Noah Segan
Francis, a 115-year-old Yiddish vampire, still looks 35. He’s been roaming American backroads in his beat-up muscle car for decades, keeping to himself, and liking it that way. One day, Jane, a teenager, shows up. She says she’s his daughter, and she’s got the fangs to prove it. They go on the road, deciding whether to sink their teeth into family life. A SHUDDER ORIGINAL

this movie is fine. i watched it because i'm a yiddishist and it says it's about a "yiddish vampire" but the yiddish is basically incomprehensible- if this movie was newer i'd guess they fed it through chat-gpt but for when they filmed it, google translate is probably a safer guess. it just makes me sad because it would have cost like a couple hundred bucks to hire a language consultant for the eight words of yiddish spoken in this movie and it would have made me a lot happier (but also, if i'm really nitpicking he shouldn't be a yiddish speaker everything about his backstory makes more sense if he was from a relatively wealthy, extremely assimilated German Jewish family. like he was a surgeon who went to Bayreuth fr that man is not from the Pale of Settlement. I understand why they made it yiddish (it's a comedy and yiddish codes as funny) but it drives me crazy. if they wanted it to be yiddish they could have easily done it just make him into italian opera instead and have it be a thing he picked up in america but like bayreuth? come on noah segan 3/5 because i am the only person who will ever watch this movie and be bothered by these things, and it's pretty inoffensive otherwise
Fun movie with a great soundtrack.
Ok for me.
Loved it. So goofy, but sweet too.
