Black Cab

Black Cab

Directed by Bruce Goodison

When Anne and Patrick hail a black cab after a night out, their driver is chatty, jovial even, but they are in no mood to talk. In fact, the couple is barely on speaking terms. That is, until they realize the driver has no intention of taking them home. Locked in the cab with no means of escape, the driver transports the couple to a stretch of deserted and supposedly haunted road. But what is his purpose? Is he mad or just plain evil? And why has he selected Anne and Patrick as his victims?

Nick Frost stars as a menacing cab driver in this haunting new thriller.

Cast: Nick Frost, Synnøve Karlsen, Luke Norris

Nick Frost mixed the typical humorous, London taxi driver with creepy vibes very well, you can tell he ad-libbed a lot of his lines too; genuinely funny guy, but even despite the funny quips, the movie never seemed to have an identity crisis and forget it was a horror (something 'IT Part 2' failed at). All the acting was amazing- I really liked Synnøve's performance, she was amazing. I'm personally not a big fan of CGI ghosts and the less special effects on them the better (look at basically any Japanese ghost movie for reference, they nail it) but overall it was an entertaining watch. And props to whoever did the sound design/soundtrack; it slapped.

I wanted to like this movie, but it just fell flat. I was bored & waited for it to get good, but it just didn’t keep my interest. Great acting however.

Nick Frost was excellent in this. That being said, I think the CGI for the ghost wasn't really necessary.
