Such a wonderful, deep dive on such an amazing film! Alien Expanded is long but so thorough, giving a warts-and-all look at the teams of people it took to make Aliens. I love that it isn't just from James Cameron's perspective, or even Sigourney Weaver's. You get to hear from a whole team of creatives who helped put their mark on such a legacy film. If you love anything to do with Aliens, you'll love this!

It’s a phenomenal documentary, totally in depth, inspiring and exciting. However I’m gonna say this: in every modern documentary the audience begins to roll their eyes when once again parties highlight, that “she is strong female leader” or whatnot, or “coloured character”, or LGBT character blah blah. I GUARANTEE that everybody who watched and grew up with these classic films didn’t and doesn’t care about any of that, and people are just watching human stories, completely independent from the character’s sex, race or sexual orientation. When the story is good, it will arch over all of these things, none of this needs to be spelled out. I personally, have never watched Aliens once, thinking of “what a badass female character” because I was watching a human go through her journey. And I also had an Aliens poster in my room growing up RipIey’s character inspiring me, and I’m a male. I wish that we lived in a world where we could just watch and enjoy these timeless stories without divide and segregate by constantly mentioning the blatant obvious, that nobody really cares about, but the self important. Rant’s over.

I really wish it had been a miniseries instead. It’s too long for a movie.
