When I first saw this film, I was deep into the occult and always starved for esoteric media. This film is the finest depiction of Alister Crowley’s magic and specifically the Abramelin ritual put to film. My girlfriend at the time hated the ending, but I thought it was so perfect. A deeply meaningful movie, with well researched nods to real life magick. If you’re a student of the occult, you will find so much that makes sense in this movie.

One of the best ritual movies, period. Its not a slow burn imo, its just deliberate. Strong sense of accuracy to the occult lore; more so than the usual movie of this sort.

One of my favourite horror flicks in the realm of angels, hellfire/purgatory, and grief.

This movie was so boring I could barely stay awake. You spend so long with characters you don’t care about and there’s nothing even remotely scary until the last 30 min and even that stuff was boring.

Extra creepy, and for all the right things.
