A unique and interesting movie with great practical FX, good cinematography, and an intriguing plot. Overall a solid work marred only by occasional writing issues that show up as contrived plot points and awkward dialogue. Better than three skulls but not quite four. I’ll error on the side of generosity and exud
This movie had potential. The acting from the actress who played the mom was great. Also absolutely loved the creature designs (especially the little porcupines towards the end) as well as the allegory; however, I unfortunately got lost in the storytelling.
I was prepared for some kind of creature feature and this was technically that sort of. The script was just sort of all over the place with a predictable trope of it was all in her head and whatnot. Chrissy does not fit the role of seductress in the slightest and I'd prefer it if it were just the daughter being a monster not her imagining one. Also weird scene in the garage where the daughter acts like the man of the house while in porcupine form? Honestly if the home invaders are hallucinations and so is the daughter being a porcupine man. . . . then what are the hallucinations having a chat in the garage? Just not great overall.
I consider myself to have pretty good comprehension skills, but I was lost this whole movie. Took me a few sittings to get through. Last few minutes were good though.
it was ok. . good for a one time watch. .
