A Bay of Blood
Directed by Mario Bava
When a rich Countess dies, strange murders befall people trying to claim her property in Mario Bava's gruesome giallo, which many credit with giving birth to the slasher genre. Combining his famously rich cinematography style with increasingly bizarre murders, Bava's film became a favorite of directors like Joe Dante and horror historian Stephen Thrower. It also found many detractors, including horror icon Christopher Lee, who found the extreme violence revolting. Controversial, disturbing and incredibly influential, A BAY OF BLOOD is a total must-see. Contains sexual scenes, violence and gore.

I thought there were some good kills and good stylish filmmaking. I thought the musical score was pretty good. However the plot was a big mess. I really had no clue what was going on. There just seemed to be completey random events just slapped together with someone getting killed once in a while. This was my first giallo. I was expecting a killer dressed in black with leather gloves but that isn’t the case in this one. All in all I was very disappointed with this one considering how much hype it has. My 3 skull rating is generous, i would rate it 2. 5 stars if I could do so.
Love a good giallo and this one kicked ass
My name is Cam and this was ok
if you like an immersive giallo atmosphere and a bizarre elliptical plot full of eccentric and suspicious characters and shocking deaths, a masterpiece! if you want a movie with any sort of protagonist or hero, moral uplift, or a clear plot through-line, you may be bored!
What a wild whiplash of an ending. Trying to track all of the moving players around the bay makes for such an entertaining mystery.
