I always forget just how inept this movie is and, through trickery of my own terrible memory, am frequently stuck rewatching this film I hate thinking "surely it can't be that bad". It is. The acting is fine, which is about the only nice thing I can say about it. There is zero theme and the narrative is very coincidence based/convenient. It came out during the film industry's disgusting relationship with music-video-quick-cuts and shaky-shaky-shaky-cam nonsense, so the editing and cinematography grate. Any interesting ideas 28 Weeks Later has are ripped off of better films and presented without anything to say. Hard to believe this is the sequel to 28 Days Later, which still holds up as a masterpiece of the genre. If 28 Years Later has nothing to do with this mediocre-at-very-best sequel, I'm going to give this dvd away. I've had it too long and it's been tricking me by it's association to a masterpiece for too long.

Excellent follow up to 28 Days Later, I am not a huge fan of “character does something stupid and everybody dies” trope but the sad truth is that that is usually what happens in real life, someone does something stupid and everybody else pays the price. Just like the animal rights activists from the first movie. Stupid people gonna stupid. Intense movie. Also, a comment below is correct, these are not zombies or cannibals, no one technically gets eaten and the infected aren’t dead.
